Pflegelaien formulieren in Artikeln oder Büchern immer wieder missverständlich von „Pflegerobotern“. Dadurch entsteht beim Leser der Eindruck, die Maschinen würden pflegen, vielleicht gar Pflegefachleute ersetzen können. Das ist falsch, wie auch Alice Lin, Director of UX/UI Design, Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) im Interview deutlich macht. Begriffe im englischen wie clinical assistant robot oder collaborative robot (Cobot) sind da weitaus treffender. Die intelligenten Helfer übernehmen Transportaufgaben und erledigen Bringdienste, können leichte Routineaufgaben lösen und die Pflegeprofis informieren, wenn sie irgendwo noch dringender als ohnehin schon gebraucht werden. Sie pflegen keine Menschen – nicht einmal die fortschrittlichsten Modelle tun das bislang. Das soll weder die Leistungen der Serviceroboter schmälern noch ihre Wichtigkeit in Frage stellen. Gerade Pflegenden ist es hochwillkommen wenn patientenferne Aufgaben erledigt werden, ohne ihre ohnehin knappe Zeit in Anspruch zu nehmen. Die Expertise von Pflegeprofis gehört an die Menschen, die sie brauchen. Das erfordert Zeit, die nicht durch Hol- und Bringedienste verschwendet werden sollte. Kurz: Roboter dienen der Pflege – aber sie pflegen nicht. Ob das irgendwann einmal anders werden wird, ist offen. Sicher ist jedoch: die hierzulande häufig verwendete Bezeichnung „Pflegeroboter“ ist irreführend.Alice Lin (Foxconn) im InterviewDer sogenannte Nurabot nutzt KI‑Modelle, Digital‑Twin‑Training und ist aktuell in Pilotprojekten im Smart Hospital Taiwan im Einsatz. Sein volles Potenzial im klinischen Alltag wird sich jedoch erst nach Abschluss umfassender Feldstudien und einem breiten Praxiseinsatz in unterschiedlichen Einrichtungen zeigen.Jochen Gust: Welche konkreten Aufgaben kann der Nurabot derzeit in Krankenhäusern oder Pflegeeinrichtungen übernehmen, und wie interagiert er mit Personal und Patienten?Alice Lin: Der Nurabot wird derzeit auf der Station W106 des Taichung Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan klinisch erprobt (das Krankenhaus zählt laut Newsweek 2025 zu den 100 besten Smart Hospitals weltweit). Es handelt sich um einen kollaborativen Serviceroboter, der insbesondere bei wiederkehrenden logistischen Aufgaben im Klinikalltag zum Einsatz kommt, wie z.B. der Lieferung von Medikamenten und Proben, Erkennung von übermäßigem Umgebungslärm, er verfügt auch über Audio- und Wegweiser-Funktionen die Patienten helfen sich innerhalb der Station besser zurechtzufinden. Das stärkt die Orientierung der Patienten und ihr Sicherheitsgefühl während des Krankenhausaufenthalts. Der Nurabot interagiert mit dem medizinischen Personal über Sprachansagen, Touchscreen und ein Cloud-basiertes Dispatch-System. Gegenüber Patienten tritt er freundlich und sanft auf, gibt Medikamenten-, Pflege- und Entlassungshinweise. Der Roboter stellt einfache, standardisierte Fragen zum aktuellen Befinden der Patienten, um die Pflege bei Routinedokumentationen zu unterstützen.Dank seines multimodalen KI-Wahrnehmungssystems sowie Echtzeit-Positionierungs- und Navigationsfunktionen kann der Roboter Wege autonom planen, Hindernisse vermeiden und sich sicher in dynamischen und belebten Umgebungen bewegen. Ziel des Designs ist es nicht, menschliche Interaktion zu ersetzen, sondern das Pflegepersonal bei sich wiederholenden logistischen Aufgaben zu entlasten, damit mehr Zeit für komplexe und emotionale Pflege bleibt.Aktuell kein Fokus auf Menschen mit DemenzJochen Gust: Gibt es Anwendungsfälle oder Pilotprojekte mit Menschen mit Demenz? Welche Beobachtungen oder Herausforderungen ergaben sich?Alice Lin: Der Fokus von Nurabot liegt zunächst auf seiner Rolle als kollaborativer Serviceroboter. Von der Entwicklung bis zum Pilotbetrieb vergingen nur zehn Monate, seit April 2025 läuft ein Test, der bis Ende 2025 andauert. Der erste Einsatz erfolgt auf einer der geschäftigsten Stationen Taiwans, der W106 mit 68 Betten, zuständig für Lungenheilkunde und Mund-Kiefer-Chirurgie (u.a. bei Lungenkrebs, COPD, Asthma).Mithilfe von digitaler Zwillingstechnologie wurde die Station vorab virtuell abgebildet, wodurch 80 % möglicher Risiken schon vor dem Realbetrieb minimiert wurden. Unsere Praxiserfahrungen zeigten: Das „ungefährliche“ Design, ruhige Bewegungen und sanfte Sprache des Nurabot helfen, Ängste und Schreckreaktionen älterer Patienten zu reduzieren. Der Roboter kommt nicht direkt in physischen Kontakt mit Patienten, sondern unterstützt das Pflegepersonal – etwa bei Gesundheitsinformationen per Audio-Video-Format. Diese begleitende Rolle fördert Vertrauen. Zukünftig sind gezielte Studien auch für Demenzbetroffene geplant. Aktuell liegt hier aber kein Fokus.Jochen Gust: Inwieweit waren Pflegefachpersonen und andere Krankenhausmitarbeiter an der Entwicklung und Erprobung beteiligt?Alice Lin: Unser Ausgangspunkt war der reale Arbeitsalltag des Pflegepersonals. Eine Pflegekraft geht täglich über 10.000 Schritte – vieles entfällt allein auf Botengänge. Das Krankenhausmanagement und das Pflegepersonal waren offen gegenüber Innovation. Unser UX-Team interviewte und begleitete die Stationsleitung und Pflegekräfte auf der W106 direkt bei der Arbeit, um die zeitintensivsten und monotonsten Tätigkeiten zu identifizieren. Diese Erkenntnisse flossen direkt in die Funktionsgestaltung ein: Medikamenten- und Probenlieferung, Materialversorgung, Gesundheitsvideos. In der Designphase half das Pflegepersonal bei der Wegplanung und bei der Simulation realer Arbeitsabläufe. Auch in der Testphase erfolgten ständige Anpassungen durch das Foxconn-Team.Pflegeprofis spielten also eine Schlüsselrolle, um den Nurabot praxisnah, alltagstauglich und akzeptiert zu gestalten. Technisch wurde zudem eng mit Kawasaki Heavy Industries und NVIDIA zusammengearbeitet.Jochen Gust: Welche langfristige Rolle sehen Sie für den Nurabot – als Ergänzung oder Automatisierung auch komplexer Tätigkeiten?Alice Lin: Ziel ist es, das Gesundheitssystem resilienter zu machen, indem repetitive, belastende Aufgaben übernommen werden, um die Pflege zu entlasten. Mit wachsender KI-Entwicklung wird Nurabot zunehmend auch anspruchsvollere Aufgaben übernehmen, jedoch immer im Sinne der „Mensch-Maschine-Kollaboration“. Er soll Pflegekräfte unterstützen, nicht ersetzen. Die emotionale und empathische Arbeit bleibt weiterhin dem Menschen vorbehalten.Jochen Gust: Gibt es konkrete Pläne für einen Rollout in Europa bzw. Deutschland?Alice Lin: Digitale Gesundheit gehört bei Foxconn zu den drei strategischen Zukunftsfeldern (neben Robotik und E-Mobilität). Die Kerntechnologien sind Halbleiter, KI und neue Kommunikationssysteme. Ein Markteintritt in Europa, speziell Deutschland, wird aktiv geprüft. Voraussetzung wären jedoch u.a. Tests in Kooperationskliniken, CE-Zertifizierung und der Aufbau von Service- und Wartungsstrukturen gemäß lokalen Vorgaben.
